Draw a planet

If you ever dreamed about moving Earth’s continents around, or designing their layout completely anew, drawing a full planetary map for some fantasy world – Google Earth will do wonders for you. All you need is a cylindrical projection map (linked below), which Google Earth will properly wrap around the 3-D globe. Download the image, add it to Google Earth by Add Image Overlay (Ctrl+Shift+O), set full globe coverage (N 90°, S -90°, E 180°, W -180°) and you’re set. Now you can easily edit or resize the map image, and the Google globe (Googlobe?) will handle it nicely. Placing cities or military units on that alien planet should not pose any problems. Just remember to turn off all the layers representing Earth’s objects, or you’ll get a jumbled mess 😉
